BRTC ‘women’s bus’ service to launch on August 18

To ensure safe and comfortable commuting for women in the capital, the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is launching a "Women's Bus" or Pink Bus service starting August 18. Operated exclusively by female drivers and conductors, this special bus service is being introduced as part of the implementation of the government's election manifesto.

The BRTC public relations office announced that the service will be inaugurated at 10am at the BRTC Dhaka Truck Depot premises in Tejgaon on Tuesday. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam will be present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.

State Minister for Road Transport and Highways Habibur Rashid and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haq will attend the event as special guests. The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla.

BRTC stated that all operational duties, ranging from passenger service to vehicle operation, on these pink buses will be handled entirely by female staff. This service is being introduced as a secure public transport alternative for working women and female students in the capital.
