BTS star Jimin's World Cup shirt fetches $110,000 at FIFA auction
A shirt worn by BTS member Jimin during the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final has sold for $110,000, tying with the tournament's official final match ball as the most expensive item at a FIFA charity auction.
The online auction, titled "One Goal: Auction for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund," was organized by Christie's and concluded on Wednesday after a week of bidding. It raised $652,630, surpassing organizers' expectations, with buyers from 24 countries taking part.
Jimin's performance shirt emerged as one of the auction's standout items, fetching approximately Tk 13.5 million (more than $110,000). The official match ball used in the World Cup final sold for the same amount.
Memorabilia from BTS accounted for nearly 46 per cent of the auction's total proceeds. Collectively, performance outfits and accessories worn by the K-pop supergroup during the World Cup final halftime show generated $300,300.
Among the other BTS items, V's scarf and Jungkook's jacket each sold for $46,200, while Suga's trousers fetched $33,000. J-Hope's gloves sold for $28,600, RM's boots for $19,800, and Jin's belt for $16,500.
The halftime show featured BTS performing their global hit "Dynamite" before a worldwide television audience during the World Cup final.
The auction also featured memorabilia from other international stars. An Argentina jersey signed by Lionel Messi and presented to pop icon Shakira sold for $66,000, while a signed goalkeeper glove used by Madonna during the opening ceremony fetched $41,800. A sneaker worn by Justin Bieber during the halftime show sold for $26,400.
Proceeds from the auction will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which helps expand access to quality education and football opportunities for disadvantaged children. FIFA said the funds will support grassroots initiatives in nearly 200 countries.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final was held on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Spain defeated Argentina to lift the title.
