In a significant development, former national cricket captain Aminul Islam Bulbul has been elected the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The announcement was made following a BCB board meeting held on Friday afternoon, May 30.

Nazmul Abedin Fahmi was appointed as the senior vice-president, while Fahim Sinha secured the position of vice-president. These changes come shortly after Bulbul’s approval as a councilor of the National Sports Council (NSC) on Thursday night, which cleared the way for his appointment as a BCB director.

The Sports Council officially announced Bulbul’s directorship today, just 24 hours after the removal of former BCB president Faruk Ahmed. Bulbul’s appointment puts an end to days of speculation regarding the leadership of the cricket board.

The NSC appoints five councillors to the BCB, of whom two serve as directors. Currently, Nazmul Abedin Fahmi and Aminul Islam Bulbul hold these key positions.
