Burial of Larijani, Soleimani today
The funeral and burial ceremonies of Ali Larijani, the former head of Iran's National Security Council, and Gholamreza Soleimani, the commander of the Basij Force, will be held in Tehran today (March 18).
The Iranian government said that all preparations have been made to bid farewell to these two top figures who were killed in an Israeli airstrike last Monday night. Since this attack, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has taken a new intense form.
The day after the attack, the Israeli army officially admitted responsibility for the operation. At the same time, Iran also confirmed the deaths of Larijani and Soleimani and expressed deep sorrow.
Iranian Army Chief of Staff Amir Hatami warned of a harsh response to the assassination, saying that "decisive revenge" would be taken. Immediately after his announcement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intensified its missile attacks against Israel.
At least two people were killed and many others were injured when debris fell on the Tel Aviv region of Israel. Iran claims that it has been hitting Israeli military targets using advanced missiles, including the Khorramshahr-4 and the Khyber Shekan.
The Israeli Ministry of Health said that at least 192 people were injured and hospitalized in the last 24 hours. Four of them are in critical condition. The total number of injuries in the ongoing conflict has exceeded 3,700.
In this context, the situation surrounding the funeral of Larijani and Soleimani has become even more heated. There is growing international concern about whether Iran will expand its military campaign after the funeral.
