A group of miscreants set a bus on fire at Postogola of Jurain area in the capital on Sunday (December 24) during the blockade called by the BNP and its allies. Eyewitnesses said someone suddenly set fire to the bus around 2:30 pm. People then came and tried to put out the car fire and brought it under some control. The interior of the car was burnt. Later, two units of Postgola Fire Service arrived and brought the fire under control. Confirming the news, Lima Khanam, duty officer of fire service and civil defense headquarters, said, "The miscreants set fire to a bus around 2:30 pm near Salauddin Pump. Then, we informed Postgola Fire Service. They rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. As the bus was parked, there were no casualties."

বিএনপিসহ বিভিন্ন সমমনা দলগুলোর ডাকা অবরোধ চলাকালে দিনদুপুরে রাইদা পরিবহনের একটি বাসে আগুন দিয়েছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। রবিবার (২৪ ডিসেম্বর) বেলা আড়াইটার দিকে রাজধানীর শ্যামপুর থানার জুরাইন খন্দকার রোডের সামনে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। পরে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের দুটি ইউনিট এসে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, হঠাৎ করে বেলা আড়াইটার দিকে কে বা কারা বাসটিতে আগুন লাগিয়ে দেয়। তখন জনগণ এসে গাড়ির আগুন নেভাতে চেষ্টা করে এবং কিছুটা নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। এতে গাড়ির ভেতরের অংশ পুড়ে গেছে। পরে পোস্তগোলা ফায়ার সার্ভিসের দুটি ইউনিট এসে বাসটির আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্স সদর দপ্তরের দায়িত্বরত কর্মকর্তঅ লীমা খানম এ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে জানান, বেলা প্রায় আড়াইটার দিকে আমরা আগুন লাগার খবর পাই। তখন আমরা পোস্তগোলা ফায়ার সার্ভিসকে অবগত করি। তারা দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে বাসটির আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। যেহেতু বাসটি পার্কিং অবস্থায় ছিল, তাই কোনো হতাহতের ঘটনা ঘটেনি।
