Businessman electrocuted in rainwater logging in capital

A businessman has died after being electrocuted while walking through rainwater accumulated on a road in Jurain under Kadamtali police station in the capital. The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hossain, 55.

The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 26, on the Jurain Rishipara Main Road. Anwar lived with his family on Jatrabari Shaheed Faruk Smaraniya Road.

Anwar's relative, Tayeb Ali, said Anwar had gone to his brother-in-law's house in Rishipara to buy a sacrificial cow. While walking through the rainwater accumulated on the roadside, he was electrocuted and fell unconscious.

He was rushed to a local hospital and later to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.

DMCH Police Outpost Inspector Md Faruk said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue and the concerned police station has been informed.
