Football fans are in for a treat tonight as hosts Canada and Switzerland face off in a thrilling Group B decider at 1:00 am Bangladesh time on Thursday, June 25, in Vancouver. The match will determine the group champions.

Both teams have four points each, but Canada lead on goal difference. A draw against Switzerland will be enough for Canada to top the group. However, Swiss legend Ricardo Rodriguez has made it clear that their only goal is to win, regardless of the opponent.

Canada are brimming with confidence after demolishing Qatar 6-0, with Jonathan David scoring a hat-trick to become the country's all-time top scorer with 42 international goals. However, midfielder Ismael Kone has been ruled out with a broken foot, with Nathan Saliba likely to replace him. Captain Alphonso Davies and defender Moise Bombito are expected to return from injury.

Switzerland, who drew 1-1 with Qatar and thrashed Bosnia 4-1, are fully fit. They have not conceded first in any of their last 11 competitive matches since a loss to Spain in 2024. Breel Embolo, one of only five players to have scored at multiple World Cups and Euros, is their main attacking threat.

Switzerland are one of only two European teams, alongside France, to have reached the knockout stages of six consecutive major tournaments. Rodriguez holds the record for most minutes played for Switzerland at the World Cup (1,289) and has played 14 World Cup matches jointly with Granit Xhaka.

Canada, unbeaten in their last 10 matches since October 2015, are determined to give their best in front of home fans. Coach Jesse Marsch said his team plays their best football when they are on the front foot. Tonight's clash promises to be a fascinating contest between Canada's attacking flair and Switzerland's disciplined defence.
