Co-host Canada has unveiled its 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup, becoming the latest host nation to confirm its final roster after the United States.

The squad features a blend of experience and fresh talent, with 13 players retained from the 2022 World Cup campaign and 13 newcomers earning their first call-up to football’s biggest stage.

As expected, star defender and captain Alphonso Davies has been included despite currently being sidelined with an injury.

Head coach Jesse Marsch has kept faith in the Bayern Munich full-back, who remains one of Canada’s most influential players.

Davies is expected to join the squad in Edmonton ahead of Monday’s international friendly against Uzbekistan.

However, his participation in Canada’s opening World Cup match remains highly uncertain as he continues his recovery.

Several key members of Canada’s historic 2022 World Cup squad have retained their places, including prolific striker Jonathan David and midfielder Liam Millar, providing valuable experience as the team prepares for another appearance on the global stage.

The squad also introduces a new generation of talent. Among the 13 World Cup debutants are goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, defender Moïse Bombito and forward Tani Oluwaseyi, all of whom have impressed in recent international and club performances.

With a balanced mix of established stars and emerging prospects, Canada will be aiming to build on the experience gained in Qatar and make a stronger impact as one of the host nations of the tournament.
