Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal leaders killed in NCC garbage truck crash
Two motorcycle-riding leaders of Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal have been crushed to death under a garbage truck of Narayanganj City Corporation (NAC). The accident occurred around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, in the Jalkuri Dashpai area.
The deceased have been identified as Abdul Kadir Jilani, 26, former general secretary of Fatullah union Chhatra Dal, and Md Masum Billah, 27, publicity secretary of Ward 9 Jubo Dal in Kutubpur. Both were residents of the Fatullah area in Narayanganj.
Siddhirganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Shah Alam said both were on a motorcycle. The motorcycle and the city corporation garbage truck were moving in the same direction. When the truck crushed the motorcycle, they died on the spot. Regarding the nature of the accident, he said some witnesses say the truck hit from behind, while others say the accident occurred while overtaking. The matter has not yet been confirmed. The driver fled abandoning the truck.
District Chhatra Dal former organising secretary Mehedi Hasan Dolon said Masum Billah was driving the motorcycle, with Chhatra Dal leader Jilani as pillion. They were heading to an event in the Dashpai area. Narayanganj City Corporation Administrator and Metropolitan BNP Convener Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan has assured the families of the deceased of support.
NAC Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan said, "They were close to me. I will stand by these families. The city corporation will provide all kinds of support."
Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Emdadul Haque confirmed the incident.
