Child beheaded in front of mother in India

A five-year-old child was brutally beheaded in front of his mother in India. The incident took place in Madhya Pradesh on Friday. The victim boy was named Vikas. The accused, Mahesh, 25, is suspected to have been mentally unstable.

According to eyewitnesses, Mahesh arrived on a motorbike and entered Kalu Singh’s house. The family had never seen him before. Without uttering a word, Mahesh picked up a sharp sickle-like blade lying on the ground and attacked the boy. He struck the child’s neck so forcefully that the head was severed from the body.

Mahesh continued to assault the corpse. Vikas’s mother tried to save her son but was injured. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed in, captured Mahesh, and beat him. However, before police arrived, he was beaten to death.

Mayank Awasthi, Superintendent of Police of Dhar district, described the incident as “extremely heart-rending.” He said, “The accused died on the way to hospital after being beaten by villagers. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after post-mortem. Initial investigation suggests he was mentally unstable.” A case has been filed against Mahesh, and a judicial inquiry has been launched into his death.
