A cleanliness drive involving children and teenagers was organised by the Gulshan Society on Friday morning, May 15, to promote environmental awareness and build a cleaner city.

The drive was conducted at the Lake Park and adjacent roads in Gulshan-2 area of the capital, starting at 10:00 am. Students from various educational institutions participated spontaneously.

The event took on a festive atmosphere due to the involvement of children and teenagers, organisers said. Parents, teachers and local dignitaries were also present.

Gulshan Society President Barrister Omar Sadat said such drives play a crucial role in raising environmental awareness among children and teenagers, while also helping instil a sense of responsibility, self-reliance and patriotism.

Through this initiative, the society aims to make children and teenagers aware from an early age about not littering, he said. If everyone in society takes such initiatives, building a clean city will become easier.

The Gulshan Society said the primary goal of the programme was to create social awareness. Organisers expressed hope that such initiatives would spread to other areas as well.
