China discovers its largest gold deposit in 70 years
China has discovered its biggest single gold reserve since 1949 in the northeastern province of Liaoning, reports Anadolu Ajansi.
The deposit, located in the Dadonggou area, contains an estimated 1,444.49 tonnes of proven gold, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources.
State media Global Times reported that feasibility assessments are complete, and preparations for development and extraction are underway. The site has been classified as an “ultra-large” open-pit mine.
The reserve spans an area 720 meters above sea level and holds 2.586 billion tonnes of ore, with an average gold grade of 0.56 grams per tonne.
The discovery, made in just 15 months of exploration, is being seen as a potential model for fast, high-quality mineral prospecting in the future.
