Cockroach Janata Party withdraws Jantar Mantar protest

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has officially announced the withdrawal of the protest after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and assuring that the various demands of the protesters will be accepted. The announcement came after the third round of meetings with the Narendra Modi-led central government on Saturday.

The CJP leaders announced this decision at a joint press conference after discussions with the government delegation. Union Minister JP Nadda, Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh and CJP spokespersons Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka were present at the press conference.

Saurabh Das said at the press conference that the government has assured them of withdrawing all the cases (FIRs) filed against the protesters across the country.

CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said that three main demands of the long-running protest at Jantar Mantar have been resolved through three rounds of talks with the government. These demands were - first, the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan; Secondly, withdrawal of all cases filed against the protesters and organizers and no new cases in future; and thirdly, compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the NEET exam-related complications. He said that their first demand has been fulfilled with the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan a while ago.

The CJP delegation also said that they will hold another round of talks with the government in the next four weeks.

It is worth noting that this movement, which was formed around the suicide of students, had received a huge response in different parts of India including Delhi. After a long movement and struggle, this chapter ended with the withdrawal of the movement from Jantar Mantar based on the assurances of the government.
