Country's forex reserves rise to $36.59bn
The country's gross foreign exchange reserves have climbed to $36.59 billion, while remittance inflows continued to post strong growth at the start of the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bank.
The central bank said the country's gross reserves stood at $36.593 billion as of August 4, reflecting a steady improvement in external financial buffers.
Remittance inflows also maintained strong momentum, with expatriate Bangladeshis sending $406 million during the first three days of August (August 1-3), an 84.4 percent increase from $220 million received during the same period a year earlier.
Bangladesh Bank data showed that $133 million was remitted on August 3 alone, underscoring the sustained pace of inward foreign currency flows.
Since the beginning of the 2026-27 fiscal year, total remittance receipts have reached $3.265 billion through August 3, compared with $2.698 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
The year-on-year increase of 20.9 percent highlights the continued resilience of remittance earnings, providing further support to the country's foreign exchange reserves and overall external sector.
