Court orders jail gate interrogation over Rangpur 4 murder
A court in Rangpur on Monday denied a police petition to put on remand the two key suspects in the Rangpur four murder case, and instead instructed the officers to quiz the accused at the jail gate.
Judge Rafikul Islam issued the orders in this regard, confirmed Zeenat Ali, the case investigation officer and an officer at the detective branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RMP).
As per the orders, the two accused, Siddharth Das and Mugdha Das, will be interrogated for three hours each on any two days over the next three days at the jail gate at Rangpur Central Jail, Zeenat Ali told reporters.
Earlier on Monday, RMP’s DB unit said that traces of narcotics were not found in the bodies of the two suspects.
However, RMP DB’s Deputy Commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty told reporters that it was natural that proofs of substance abuse would not found as the concerned dope tests were done on the accused on Sunday, eight days after the crime.
Traces of drug abuse can be detected from urine samples only within two to three days of consumption, Sanatan said.
