Crude bombs exploded in front of 7 polling stations in Gopalganj

Ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections, crude bombs explosions have occurred in front of seven polling stations in Gopalganj.

According to local sources, these explosions occurred in different areas of Gopalganj Sadar and Tungipara upazilas between 7 pm and 8:30 pm on Wednesday. However, the district police has confirmed the matter of cocktail explosions in five places.

According to local sources, cocktail explosions occurred on the road adjacent to Binapani Government Primary School in Gopalganj Municipality, Reshma International School, in the area adjacent to Shaheed Mahbub Ali Government Primary School, Dakshin Raghunathpur Government Primary School, in Majhigati High School Center in Majhigati Union of Sadar Upazila, Durgapur High School Center in Durgapur Union and in the road adjacent to Guadana Bindubasini High School Center in Gopalpur Union of Tungipara Upazila. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and seized the evidence. Army members also inspected various places.

Gopalganj District Police Spokesperson and Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Md. Muhammad Sarwar Hossain said that cocktail explosions have occurred in five places in the district. It is believed that these explosions were carried out to create panic. Immediately after the incident, the police inspected the spot and collected evidence. Work is underway to identify the people involved.
