Ctg port authority inks 30-year deal with APM Terminals
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has signed concession agreement with Netherlands-based APM Terminals BV, a unit of Danish shipping giant AP Moller - Maersk's Transport and Logistics division, for the development and operation of the Laldia Container Terminal.
Under the agreement, APM Terminals will design, finance, build, and operate the terminal for 30 years under a public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
The signing ceremony, presided over by Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) Chief Executive Officer Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, was held at the InterContinental Dhaka on Monday morning (17 November).
Shipping Adviser Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Lina Gandløse Hansen, state secretary for trade and investment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark; Christian Brix Møller, ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh; and Robert Maersk Uggla, chairman of the Maersk board.
Uggla said at the event that the Laldia terminal will go into operation between 2028 and 2030.
