'Cut' called but he did not stop, actress alleges harassment by co-star
Priya Bapat, a well-known Indian actress, has opened up about an incident of sexual harassment she faced from a co-star early in her career during a film shoot.
In an interview, the actress revealed that during the shooting of a song sequence for a film, her co-star continued to kiss her repeatedly even after the director called 'cut'. Being new to the industry at the time, she said she could not protest strongly in the moment.
Priya Bapat said she had already objected to a kissing scene while reading the script, but agreed to do it under pressure from the director for the sake of professionalism.
The trouble escalated during the song sequence when the actor began initiating physical intimacy beyond the planned scene. The harassment was not limited to the set; the actor also sent her inappropriate proposals through phone calls and messages during an outdoor shoot in Bhopal.
The situation caused her significant mental stress. She eventually informed her husband, who then went to the set and confronted the co-star, forcing him to correct his behaviour.
Priya Bapat made her film debut in 2000 with 'Doctor Babasaheb Ambedkar'. She later gained recognition for her roles in Bollywood films 'Munna Bhai MBBS' and 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', as well as critically acclaimed performances in 'Kaksparsh' and 'Timepass 2'. She also gained widespread popularity for her performance in the web series 'City of Dreams'.
She is currently busy with her upcoming psychological film 'Dalim: The Myth'.
