Czechia opens account with early goal
The Czech Republic took a 1-0 lead by scoring the opening goal in the 6th minute of the first half against South Africa in the Group A second match of the 2026 FIFA North and Central America World Cup, held on the 19th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
The Czech Republic completely broke through the right flank and passed into the box. Michal Sadilek scored the opening goal with a powerful right-footed shot, giving the Czech Republic a 1-0 lead.
The winner-takes-all principle applies in this World Cup. If the Czech Republic, which lost 1-2 to South Korea in the first match, defeats South Africa, it will create a favorable situation for South Korea.
