Day-long Butthan training workshop held in Rajshahi
A day-long Butthan training workshop has been held in Rajshahi. The workshop was held at the Evening Hall in Rajshahi on October 3 on the initiative of the Bangladesh Butthan Association.
In the workshop, organised under the supervision of Grandmaster Siddhacharja Yuri Vajramuni, intensive training was conducted by Instructor Abul Kalam Azad (5th degree black belt), Salman Green (3rd degree black belt) and Shavin (2nd degree black belt).
Butthan trainers and representatives from various districts of Bangladesh participated in the workshop. The workshop was organised with the aim of further enriching the technical skills, training standards, philosophical understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations of Butthan practitioners and trainers.
In the day-long training, participants received structured training on the basic techniques of Butthan, Vajrapran exercises, Butthan philosophy, the rules and standards of the 'Diamond Rule Book' and the rules of Butthan co-competition.
Special emphasis was placed on maintaining the distinct principles of Butthan in the training. Self-defence, development of physical capability, discipline, ethical conduct, controlled application of power and personal transformation were highlighted as part of the core practice of Butthan.
In co-competition training, emphasis was also placed on acquiring sporting skills while maintaining mutual respect, safety, discipline and constructive competitive values.
The Bangladesh Butthan Association said the workshop was organised as part of ongoing efforts to create skilled trainers, establish uniform technical standards and expand organised Butthan training activities across the country. It also said the association's activities in developing and expanding Butthan at the international level are continuing.
Butthan is a Bangladeshi martial art and self-defence sport. The organisation focuses the practice of this sport on self-defence, physical and mental development, discipline and constructive human values.
According to information from the Bangladesh Butthan Association, the organisation was founded in 1981. In 2013, Butthan was officially recognised as a national sport through the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The organisation said Butthan has recently been given a place on the official website of UNESCO-ICM as well.
