DB chief warns of strict action to prevent November 13 unrest
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) chief Md. Shafiqul Islam has said that authorities will use the full extent of the law to prevent any unrest.
He made the remarks during a press briefing held at DMP media center on Wednesday (November 12).
Speaking there, he urged city residents not to panic over the ‘lockdown’ programme called by the banned Awami League on November 13, adding, "Any sabotage attempts will be firmly dealt with with public cooperation."
The DB chief also confirmed that 44 people linked to potential disruptions have already been arrested.
Earlier, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali assured the public that authorities will immediately apprehend anyone attempting violence, including throwing petrol bombs.
