Deadline for submission of nomination papers today
Today, Monday, is the final day for candidates to submit nomination papers for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
Nomination papers can be collected and submitted until 5:00 pm today. No candidate will be allowed to submit nomination papers after the deadline.
Director of public relations and information officer at the Election Commission Secretariat, Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, confirmed the information.
On December 11, the Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin announced the schedule for the 13th national parliamentary election in a televised address to the nation. From the announcement of the schedule until Sunday at 2:30 pm, a total of 2,780 candidates collected nomination papers.
On December 18, the Election Commission issued a revised gazette notification related to the election schedule. Under the revision, the time for filing appeals against returning officers’ decisions on nomination scrutiny was reduced by two days, while the time for disposal of appeals was extended by two days.
According to the revised schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers by returning officers will take place from December 30 to January 4. Appeals against scrutiny decisions can be filed from January 5 to January 9, with disposal of appeals scheduled from January 10 to January 18. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20, and symbol allocation will be held on January 21.
The 13th national parliamentary election and referendum will be held on February 12, Thursday, with voting conducted through ballot papers in transparent ballot boxes from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm without interruption.
