Bangladesh fell short by seven runs in a closely fought second T20I in Chattogram as Australia secured the series with a tense victory defending 196.

Chasing 197, the hosts finished on 189 for 6 in their 20 overs after a promising start turned into a late batting collapse.

Bangladesh’s openers provided a quick foundation, before Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain steadied the innings with a strong partnership that kept the chase on track. At the halfway stage, Bangladesh were well placed at 103 for 2.

Saif scored 42, Parvez made 36, while Tanzid Hasan contributed 30. However, the momentum shifted after the dismissal of Shamim Hossain, as Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals and struggled to accelerate in the death overs.

Earlier, Australia posted 196 for 5, powered by an unbeaten 89 from Matt Renshaw and a fluent 45 from Tim David. Nasum Ahmed took two wickets for Bangladesh.

Despite the strong platform, Bangladesh’s middle and lower-order collapse proved costly as Australia held their nerve to seal a seven-run win.
