Defamation case filed against actor Dipjol by his cousin
A defamation case has been filed against Dhaka film actor Monwar Hossain Dipjol by his cousin Azizur Rahman Tiger, Managing Director of A-One Trading Bangladesh.
The case was filed before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Shahadat in Dhaka on Sunday (July 26). Alongside Dipjol, his manager Abdul Ghani and personal assistant Khokon have also been made accused.
The court has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) to investigate the allegations and submit a report by September 24.
The case statement alleges that Dipjol, envious of Azizur Rahman Tiger's business reputation and identity, had long been attempting to defame him. In continuation of this, Dipjol's manager filed a General Diary (GD) at Darus Salam Police Station on August 3 last year. It was alleged that on Tiger's orders, several individuals attempted to break the signboard of a CNG filling station and put up a new one, claiming ownership of the property.
However, the case states that the investigation into that GD found no evidence linking Azizur Rahman Tiger to the matter.
The complainant claims he is the actual owner of the property in question, but Dipjol, by claiming it as his own and posting on social media as well as broadcasting through various television, newspapers and online outlets, has damaged his social standing and business reputation. He has also allegedly suffered financial losses amounting to millions of takas.
The actor's reaction to the case is yet to be known.
