Delhi car blast death toll rises to 13
The death toll from a car explosion near Red Fort in India’s capital has risen to 13, with several others injured, authorities said.
However, the cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed, reports Hindustan Times.
Following the blast, the government to impose maximum security in Delhi with Red Fort metro station was closed and the monument was shut to visitors from November 11–13.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses reported multiple vehicles catching fire and nearby building windows shattering.
Seven fire units were deployed to control the blaze.
Police have cordoned off the area, while forensic teams, Delhi Police, NIA officers, and dog squads are collecting evidence.
A case has been filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Security has been heightened in Delhi as well as in Karnataka, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
