Delhi CM attacked at official residence, 1 arrested
Delhi Police has arrested a man for slapping and physically abusing Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at her official residence in Delhi.
The attack took place in the Civil Lines area at 3:30am on Wednesday (August 20)
According to Indian media outlet Firstpost, during a public grievance hearing at the Chief Minister's residence, a man aged around 30–35 approached the Chief Minister, handed him a piece of paper, then suddenly slapped him and pulled his hair. He proceeded to shout and hurl abuses during the incident.
Some papers, believed to be court-related, were recovered from the attacker, but their exact contents have not yet been disclosed.
Indian media outlet INS reported that the attacker struck the Chief Minister on the head with a heavy object.
The BJP has condemned the incident, with Delhi branch president Virendra Sachdev stating, "This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and condemnable."
However, the name or identity of the arrested individual is yet to disclose.
