The Delhi government has taken an innovative initiative to save energy and reduce pressure on foreign exchange reserves. In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for austerity and fuel conservation, a set of new directives were issued on Thursday, May 14.

According to the new directives, all government officials and employees will now work from home two days per week. The main objective is to reduce travel and save fuel costs.

Additionally, 50 per cent of official meetings will now be held virtually, according to a government notification.

Recently, Prime Minister Modi had called for fuel conservation and prudent use of resources. The Delhi government's step reflects that call.
