Delhi police raid Junaid's home after giving water, food to protesters

Delhi police have raided the home of a man named Mohammad Junaid for providing water and food to protesters at Jantar Mantar. They took away his father and younger brother. Police also went to his sister's home and detained members of her in-laws' family.

Protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) had been ongoing at Jantar Mantar for 36 days over the medical entrance exam paper leak issue. The protests concluded today following the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and an assurance that no action would be taken against the protesters.

Many people had assisted the protesting students with food and water, including Junaid. A photo of him providing water went viral on social media, drawing police attention.

Junaid told the local media outlet The Lalantop that police went to his home in Uttar Pradesh and took his father and younger brother away. Police also went to his sister's in-laws' home in Meerut and detained her father-in-law and brother-in-law.

Junaid said, "What is my crime? Is it a crime to give water and food?"

After learning of the harassment, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) expressed solidarity with Junaid. In a post on X, the CJP said, "Instead of catching criminals, Uttar Pradesh police are wasting time at the home of our volunteer Mohammad Junaid. Now police are harassing his family. We are in contact with him and will never let him and his family become victims."
