Dhaka Football Fiesta from June 9, 13 fan zones for World Cup
An unprecedented football frenzy is set to begin in Bangladesh for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. A large-scale football festival is being organised jointly by private organisations 'House' and 'Athlete Sports Gear' in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The 'Dhaka Football Fiesta' will be officially launched on June 9 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka. State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque will be present as the chief guest. Current and former national star footballers, along with popular celebrities, will share their excitement about the World Cup.
A special tribute will be paid to the 2003 SAFF champion Bangladesh football team. The event will also feature an attractive fashion show of World Cup jerseys and a DJ fusion.
Following the Dhaka Football Fiesta, big screens will be set up in 13 zones across the country, known as 'Fan Zones', for football fans to watch World Cup matches.
The three Fan Zones in Dhaka will be inaugurated on the night of June 11. Alongside watching matches, the Fan Zones will feature food stalls, gaming zones and jersey festivals, with opportunities for spectators to win attractive prizes.
Organisers hope that this initiative will add a new dimension to the country's football culture.
