Dhaka residential building fire leaves 5 with burn injuries

A fire broke out early Sunday on the fifth floor of a residential building in Dhaka’s Turag area, leaving five people with burn injuries.

Fire Service officials said the blaze was reported at 5:50am, and seven units brought it under control within 45 minutes.

A total of 23 residents were safely evacuated—many first moved to the rooftop under fire crews’ supervision before being guided downstairs once the fire was contained.

Preliminary findings suggest the blaze was caused by an electrical fault.

Authorities are conducting further assessments of the building’s safety and the cause of the fire.
