Dhaka Test: New Zealand beat Bangladesh to draw series

The two-match Test series between hosts Bangladesh and visiting New Zealand has come to an end with a 1-1 draw. The Kiwis won the Dhaka Test by 4 wickets on Saturday. New Zealand reached the target of 137 runs losing 6 wickets.

Bangladesh started the fourth day of the Test on Saturday with 38-2. However, the Tigers could not go far due to the excellent bowling of New Zealand. Bangladesh's second innings ended with just 144 runs. Apart from the opener Zakir Hasan, no other batsman could stand.

Zakir played an innings of 59 runs off 86 balls, hitting 1 six and 6 fours. The second-highest 15 runs came from captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto's bat. Taijul Islam scored 14 runs.

Leading by 8 runs in the first innings, New Zealand has a target of 137 runs to win. New Zealand lost 6 wickets for 69 runs while chasing runs. However, Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner's partnership of 70 runs brought the team to the port of victory. Phillips remained unbeaten on 40 off 48 balls and Santner on 35 off 39 balls.

Phillips, who scored 87 in the first innings and an unbeaten 40 in the second innings, was adjudged Man of the Match. Meanwhile, Taijul Islam was declared Man of the Series for taking 15 wickets in two tests.
