Dhaka tops global air pollution rankings
Dhaka ranked first in the world for air pollution today, with an air quality index score of 283, classified as very unhealthy.
The data were reported by Switzerland-based air quality monitoring website IQAir at around 8:30am on Tuesday, February 10.
According to the website, Delhi in India ranked second with a score of 256, followed by Kuwait City in Kuwait in third place with a score of 217. Lahore in Pakistan ranked fourth with a score of 213.
Under IQAir standards, a score between 51 and 100 is considered moderate or acceptable air quality.
Scores between 101 and 150 are deemed unhealthy for sensitive groups, including the elderly, children, sick individuals and pregnant women. A score between 151 and 200 is classified as unhealthy, while 201 to 300 is considered very unhealthy. Any score above 301 is regarded as hazardous.
