Dhaka-Gazipur route commuter train, BRTC bus services launched
Four new pairs of commuter trains have been launched today on the Dhaka-Joydevpur-Dhaka route, to enhance connectivity for Gazipur residents.
Md Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser for railways, road transport and bridges ministries, inaugurated the services at Joydebpur railway station around 7:00am.
He said, "On the eve of Victory Day, we launched the Dhaka-Joydevpur commuter train to provide quick and easy travel for passengers. We will also introduce trains on the Narsingdi-Dhaka and Narayanganj-Dhaka routes soon."
The Railway Secretary, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner, and other railway officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
Additionally, 10 BRTC buses for the Dhaka-Gulistan route were also launched in Shibbari, using the newly built BRT infrastructure.
The new services include eight trains: Turag Commuter-1 to 4 and Joydebpur Commuter-1 to 4. These trains will stop at stations including Dhaka Airport, Tejgaon, Banani, Tongi, and Dhirashram.
The new train service offers a fare of Tk 20 from Gazipur to Kamalapur, with the Turag commuter service closed on Fridays and the Joydebpur service unavailable on Saturdays.
Gazipur residents have welcomed the launch and called for more services to meet the growing demand.
