Digital platforms need int'l coordination for order: Info Minister

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has said that in the current technological world, it is important to bring digital platforms under a system of rules and discipline.

He said that this is not possible for any single country; rather, all countries have to come forward collectively in this regard.

Turkish Ambassador Ramis Shen paid a courtesy call on the Information Minister at the Secretariat on Sunday (April 26). The Minister said these things during the meeting held at his office.

During this time, both discussed in detail the strengthening of bilateral relations and increasing media, cultural and knowledge-based cooperation between the two countries. At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the Information Minister on assuming his responsibility.

The Information Minister mentioned his participation in the 'Strategic Communication Summit' held in Turkey last March and thanked the Turkish government for the excellent organization. He termed this summit as a very timely initiative.

Recalling the bilateral meeting with Professor Burhanuddin Duran, Director of the Presidential Communications Directorate of Turkey (Ministerial rank), during his visit to Turkey, the Information Minister said that a principled decision has been made to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and information on modern information management.

During the meeting, the Turkish Ambassador handed over a copy of the proposal regarding increasing cooperation between the country's state television and radio and Bangladesh Television and Radio to the Information Minister.

The Minister emphasized on increasing communication and cooperation between the media outlets of the two countries at the government level.
