Dinesh Trivedi leaves Dhaka for Delhi

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi left Dhaka for New Delhi on Monday after holding several high-level meetings with government officials in Dhaka. His visit is seen as part of ongoing efforts to steer the relationship between the two neighboring countries toward a more positive and constructive path.

Dinesh Trivedi met with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman at the State Guest House Padma on Sunday. Following that, he paid separate courtesy calls on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Monday.

Diplomatic sources reported that the Indian High Commissioner departed Dhaka on Monday itself, noting that his visit to New Delhi had been scheduled beforehand.

During his courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dinesh Trivedi conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tarique Rahman. At this time, he expressed India's keen interest in working with the government and people of Bangladesh in a positive, constructive, and forward-looking manner.

The meeting covered various issues of mutual interest between the two countries. They also exchanged views on ways to make the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and India more people-centric and robust.

Discussions during the meeting with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed focused on security cooperation and various dimensions of bilateral relations. Dinesh Trivedi stated that India is eager to expand people-welfare-oriented cooperation with Bangladesh by placing importance on mutual interests, benefits, and sensitivities.

The High Commissioner's consecutive meetings with the Foreign Minister, Prime Minister, and Home Minister in Dhaka prior to his Delhi trip are being viewed as an important signal in advancing bilateral ties between the two nations.
