Dinesh Trivedi meets Narendra Modi in Delhi

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi just a day after his meetings with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday (August 11).

During the meeting, Trivedi sought Modi's guidance on further strengthening the multidimensional and long-standing bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh. The discussion also focused on advancing bilateral ties through a constructive and people-centric approach.

Previously, Trivedi held meetings in Dhaka on Monday with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, and Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, following a closed-door discussion with the Foreign Minister on Sunday.

This marked Trivedi's first meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday, nearly a month and a half after assuming office, during which various issues concerning bilateral relations were discussed. Following the meeting, Trivedi expressed optimism that relations between Bangladesh and India would improve further.

These continuous high-level meetings and communications between the two countries are viewed as significant, coming amid renewed tension in Dhaka-Delhi relations triggered by recent direct interactions with journalists in New Delhi by former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently residing in India.
