Dinesh Trivedi receives Letter of Credence, to take charge as High Commissioner soon
Dinesh Trivedi has received his Letter of Credence from Indian President Droupadi Murmu for his appointment as High Commissioner to Bangladesh. He will assume his responsibilities in Dhaka shortly.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka confirmed the information on Friday, June 5, stating that Trivedi received the Letter of Credence from the president on June 5.
Trivedi, a former Indian railway minister and BJP leader, was formally appointed as India's new High Commissioner to Bangladesh in late April.
The 75-year-old served as a member of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, representing West Bengal in the lower house and Gujarat in the upper house. He resigned from the Trinamool Congress in February 2021 and joined the BJP the following month.
He will succeed former High Commissioner Pranay Verma, who is currently serving as India's ambassador to Belgium.
