Divorce settlement could require payment of ₹300 Crore to Thalapathy

Indian media reports suggest that Tamil superstar and politician Thalapathy Vijay may be required to pay a substantial alimony settlement if his divorce from wife Sangeetha Sornalingam is finalised.

According to the reports, the dispute revolves around a financial settlement of around ₹250 crore (approximately Tk 350 crore), along with additional property demands.

The divorce proceedings have reportedly been delayed as the two parties have not reached an agreement on the settlement amount.

A hearing scheduled for April 20 was postponed after Vijay requested deferment due to his political commitments ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23. The court has now set June 15 as the next hearing date, effectively delaying the process by two months.

Sources cited in Indian media claim that Sangeetha has demanded ₹250 crore and a seafront residence in Chennai as part of the settlement. However, Vijay is reportedly willing to offer up to ₹35 crore in alimony, leading to ongoing negotiations between both sides.

The matter remains under discussion, and no final settlement has yet been reached.
