DMP arrests 434 in 24-hour drive across Dhaka
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 434 people and filed 44 cases during a 24-hour anti-crime drive across the capital, police said on Saturday (September 5).
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain said the operation was conducted across different police station areas of Dhaka.
Mirpur recorded the highest number of arrests at 136, followed by Motijheel and Tejgaon with 59 each. Wari police arrested 42 people, while Lalbagh arrested 33, Gulshan and Uttara 36 each, and Ramna 26. The Detective Branch arrested seven.
During the drive, police seized a foreign-made revolver and two rounds of ammunition, along with 1.3kg of cannabis, 3,589 yaba tablets, 9.4g of heroin, 100 tapentadol tablets and two buprenorphine injections.
Police also recovered Tk 1,540 in cash and rescued a person who had allegedly been abducted.
DMP said legal proceedings against the arrested individuals were underway.
