DMP arrests 506 in 24-hour Dhaka crackdown

Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 506 people in a 24-hour drive across the capital, filing 40 cases during the operation, police said Sunday (September 27).

According to a DMP media release, the arrests were made during raids across different police station areas, with drugs and other evidence recovered.

The Mirpur division recorded the highest number of arrests at 114, followed by Tejgaon with 99, Motijheel 68, Lalbagh and Wari 52 each, Ramna 43, Uttara 38, Gulshan 37 and the Detective Branch three.

Police recovered 400 grams of cannabis, 4,314 yaba tablets, two Swiss knives, a banner, six masks, 11 mobile phones and Tk 5,100 in cash during the operations. One victim was also rescued.

Legal proceedings against the detainees were underway, the DMP said.
