DMP arrests 87 in special drives across capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 87 individuals involved in various crimes during special drives in different areas of the capital. Among those arrested are 37 people wanted in cases of extortion, terrorism, mugging, robbery and other crimes, and 49 on charges of drug dealing, according to a press release from DMP's Media and Public Relations Division.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mehedi said the special drives were conducted on Sunday, June 28, by multiple DMP units in different parts of the capital. In addition to crime suppression, various narcotics were also recovered.

DMP said such special drives are being conducted regularly to maintain law and order, ensure public safety and control crime in the capital. These drives will continue in the future.

Legal action against the arrestees is underway at the concerned police stations.
