The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of rallies, gatherings, and public assemblies in the Bangladesh Secretariat area (including adjacent zones) and around the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna.

The restriction will come into effect from Saturday and remain in force until further notice.

The directive was announced in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Thursday (December 4).

According to the notice, the order is being enforced to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser. Under the authority granted by Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance No. III/76), all processions, rallies, human chains, sit-ins, marches, or any form of public assembly are prohibited within the designated area. This includes the zone bounded by the Hotel InterContinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers' Club Crossing, and Minto Road Crossing.
