DMP bans gatherings around secretariat, CA’s residence

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all types of public gatherings, rallies, and processions in and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna.

A directive, singed by signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, has been issued under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76) regarding this on Sunday (June 8).

According to the directive, the ban will be in effect from today.

The move aims to ensure public order and the security of the Chief Adviser during what authorities have described as a sensitive period.

The restricted area includes the Secretariat, Jamuna, and nearby locations such as the Hotel Intercontinental intersection, Kakrail Mosque intersection, Officers Club intersection, and Mintu Road.

The ban will remain in effect from June 9, 2025, until further notice.
