DMP intensifies block raids in Mohammadpur, other crime-prone areas of capital

Block raid operations have been intensified in crime-prone areas of the capital to maintain law and order. Strict action is being taken against those involved in various crimes including terrorism, extortion, drug dealing and snatching.

At the same time, lists of terrorists, extortionists and drug dealers are being prepared to further improve the law and order situation.

Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, N M Nasiruddin, said, "Block raid operations have been intensified in crime-prone areas of the capital to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of life and property. These operations will continue to control crime and bring criminals to justice quickly."

Additionally, law enforcement agencies including Bangladesh Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), DMP, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and CID are on high alert to prevent violence and unrest in the country, concerned officials said.

In a recent operation by DMP's Tejgaon division, 54 people involved in various crimes were arrested. Block raids were conducted in crime-prone areas of Mohammadpur, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Adabor, Tejgaon, Tejgaon Industrial Area and Hatirjheel police stations.

According to DMP data, a total of 9,259 people were arrested and 1,305 cases filed in the capital for various crimes in March this year. Additionally, 11 police stations in the capital arrested 2,625 people for various crimes in March, including 674 by Mohammadpur, 494 by Hazaribagh, 51 by New Market, 469 by Mirpur, 159 by Shahbag, 132 by Bangshal, 128 by Lalbag, 234 by Uttara West, 67 by Dhanmondi, 115 by Badda and 102 by Motijheel police station.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG, Media and Public Relations) of Police Headquarters, A H M Shahadat Hossain, said, "Law and order has improved due to increased patrols and intelligence activities, continuous operations, technology-dependent surveillance and coordinated cooperation between police and the public. The country's law and order situation is significantly better than before."

He said, "Police are working to protect internal security, maintain law and order, prevent and investigate crime, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property."
