Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief organiser Abhijeet Dipke has strongly responded to comments made by Taslima Nasrin comparing the Bangladesh July 2024 student movement with his party's agitation in India.

In an interview with news agency PTI on Monday (August 3), Abhijeet said comparisons between Bangladesh's July uprising and Nepal's movement with their ongoing protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar are being made only to tarnish their image. "We are not the same. Do not compare us with anyone else," he said.

Earlier on Sunday, at an event in Kolkata, Taslima Nasrin said that watching a video of the CJP movement reminded her of Bangladesh's student movement in 2024. She claimed that during that time, people were confused about the true objectives of the student movement, and the subsequent turn of events was not positive for Bangladesh .

Reacting to Taslima's remarks, Abhijeet Dipke said the objectives of the CJP movement are completely different. After leading student movements across the country, the organisation plans to expand its responsibilities and scope further .

The CJP began its protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on June 20, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister and protesting against question paper leaks in national recruitment examinations. After a continuous 37-day protest, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on July 25. Later, Prahlad Joshi was given charge as the new Education Minister .

However, the CJP has said it does not accept the new Education Minister either. The organisation has warned that it will launch a larger movement again if compensation is not provided to families of students affected by the NEET question paper leaks .
