Dolly Mandal finds herself in Baul Sadhana
Dolly Mandal's singing journey began with her father Majjubi sadhak Fakir Nikbar Shah. He started teaching Dolly Mandal singing by following the words of his guru. The guru's words are very significant for the people of this idealogy—"The word of the Guru is powerful, and everything is external knowledge."
Keeping that saying in mind, he gave his daughter music lessons, overcoming various adversities in society. This spiritual education formed the foundation of Dolly Mandal's singing.
The family environment was deeply focused on music and sadhana. There were regular gatherings of folk songs and folk songs at home. It was in that atmosphere that her spiritual connection with music developed from childhood. Later, she received her primary education in sadhana from her grandfather, Sadhan Shah Fakir. Then, she was introduced to classical music and harmonium from Motaleb Master, which further matured her musical practice.
A deep attraction to music brought him to Dhaka. After arriving in the capital, he came close to Baul Shafi Mandal and started his journey in Lalon Sangeet by holding his hand.
Lalon's humanistic philosophy, soul search and Baul Sadhana gradually became the main philosophy of his music.
About the idea of his songs, Dolly Mandal said, "I have dedicated myself to Baul songs. My soul's relationship with Baul songs has been since childhood. Whatever is in the universe is in the human body."
Panju Sai's words say, 'God is in matter, his wool is in the body, whoever seeks God in man is a Baul.' I have always tried to search for that beauty.'
Currently, Dolly Mandal is a full-fledged musician. So far, the number of his own original songs is about 50 to 60. He mainly records Saiji's words in his voice. Besides, he has also composed several original songs apart from Saiji's songs.

Making her position clear about the current status of folk songs, Dolly Mondal said: "I am completely attached to my roots. I can smell my roots in folk songs. No matter how much we are involved in modern agriculture and culture, at the end of the day, the pull of our soil remains. The identity of Bengalis in mother soil, fish and rice is deeply rooted in our culture."
Regarding her future plans, Dolly Mondal said that she wants to build a library, a music academy and a shelter for saints in the Akhra of her father Fakir Nikbar Shah. Through this initiative, her main goal is to institutionally sustain the Akhra culture, Baul philosophy and the flow of folk music.
