The viral albino buffalo named 'Donald Trump' has found a new home at the National Zoo in Mirpur, capital.

The buffalo was brought to the zoo on Wednesday night, May 27.

National Zoo Curator Atiqur Rahman confirmed the matter, saying the buffalo from Narayanganj has been brought to the zoo. A special shed has been prepared, and all feeding arrangements have been made. The buffalo will be open for public viewing at the zoo.

Due to its white colour and unusual build and appearance, the buffalo was named 'Donald Trump' after the US president.

The 700-kilogram buffalo was bought by Samir, a buyer from Jinjira area in Keraniganj, at Tk 550 per kilogram (Tk 3.85 lakh total). On the day of its sale, the farm authorities gave the buffalo a red carpet farewell, dressing it in royal attire and releasing coloured smoke.

However, after the sale, excessive public gatherings around the buffalo created fears of possible disorder. Considering the situation, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed intervened to ensure public safety and avoid unpleasant incidents. Following the home minister's directive, the buyer was refunded the full amount and the buffalo was brought back.

National Zoo Director Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Talukdar said the buffalo has been brought to the zoo for display. It will now be raised under the zoo authorities' close supervision.
