DPL 2025–26 to begin May 4, phone banned in dressing room

The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) 2025–26 season will get underway on May 4, with authorities introducing a ban on mobile phone use inside dressing rooms to ensure discipline and integrity during matches.

The decision was announced on Saturday (May 2) by Bangladesh Cricket Board officials, who said players will be required to deposit their phones before entering the field.

Organised by the BCB and the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), the tournament will run until June 11.

BCB ad-hoc committee chairman Tamim Iqbal said the board had worked closely with participating clubs to restore confidence and ensure smooth arreangement of the league.

He described the DPL as a vital part of the country’s cricket structure and acknowledged the challenges of restarting competitions after a prolonged halt in domestic cricket.

The sponsor for the upcoming season was also announced at the press briefing.
