DSE sees Tk 332cr turnover in early trade in one hour

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded a turnover of Tk 332.03 crore in the first 62 minutes of trading on Monday (June 8), even as the benchmark index reversed an early gain to trade in the red.

After a brief uptick at the open, the market turned lower as the session progressed. By 11:02am, the DSEX — the bourse's broad index — had shed 11.66 points to stand at 5,504.49.

The DSES (Shariah) index fell 3.70 points to 1,111.83, while the DS30 blue-chip index dropped 10.95 points to 2,076.24.

Of the companies traded during the period, 201 declined, 114 advanced, and 74 remained unchanged, indicating broad-based selling pressure across the board.

NCC Bank led turnover with shares worth Tk 10.12 crore changing hands, followed by Genex Infosys at Tk 9.53 crore and Anwar Galvanising at Tk 7.69 crore. Sonargaon Textile saw Tk 7.07 crore in activity, while BD Thai Food, IPDC Finance, and RD Food recorded turnovers of Tk 6.60 crore, Tk 5.91 crore, and Tk 5.74 crore respectively.
