Earthquake halts Bangladesh–Ireland Test for 3 minutes
Friday’s 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Madhabdi of Narsingdi, briefly interrupted the Bangladesh–Ireland Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
At 10:38am, the tremor shook the dressing rooms, press box, and giant screens, while players on the field felt the vibrations.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed that play was suspended for about three minutes. Players regrouped safely after being alerted to the quake. After this short pause, Ireland lost two early wickets.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department reported the quake’s epicentre in Madhabdi of Narsingdi, while the US Geological Survey noted a magnitude of 5.5, centred in Ghorashal.
Despite the interruption, the match resumed smoothly after 10:41am.
